Music is art. Art is the why and the way you do something. It’s about how other people interact with what you’re creating. It’s the attitude and intention behind the actions that the artist takes. Music is its own unique version of art. At times it gets separated because it’s a multi-sensory experience that stimulates you as a listener and affects the environment in a different way. In the best of intentions and executions, music has the ability to bring the whole experience to life. Music is a crucial component to the immersive experience that we created at Mesmerize. The soundtrack, a curated set of original songs by local artists, lays the foundation for visitors to understand everything as one, allowing for a complete, dynamic adventure. My recommendations include places that celebrate music as art, giving you both a visual and sonic experience.
Central Machine Works is a brewery, beer hall, and live music venue in East Austin. Housed in a 1940 machine shop once known as Capitol Machine Works, we opened in 2019. Our spacious beer hall and expansive beer garden serve house-brewed beers, seasonal drafts, a full bar, and kitchen fare while hosting live music and community events as a local gathering spot.
Formed in 2019, Austin-based trio Easy Compadre! brings together guitarist Hector Tednoir , keyboardist Oscar Botello , and percussionist Juan Alfredo Rios Rodriguez aka Chido Machine. The latin-based World Beat Fusion group features smooth guitar-driven instrumentals accompanied by synthesizer sounds and percussion lead dance grooves.
Support local music and art! Join us at the Austin Garden for a live music and art showcase featuring a lineup of 4 dynamic bands, visual artists, and food. Music: 1pm: Dogooder, 2pm: Deer Fellow, 3pm: Bovine, 4pm: TV Wonder. Art and Food: Mazapan Paper Co., Hartman Art, Kat Payle, Well Fed, and more. Entry: $10
Our artist group brings together local visual artists, musicians, and neighbors for a welcoming Austin Studio Tour stop at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard in the East 11th Street Cultural Corridor through a tradition of making art approachable, collaborative, and rooted in community. Visitors can expect more than an art show—they’ll find a laid-back space where people explore art, enjoy live music, connect with artists, and feel like they’ve been invited to a neighborhood gathering.
Local Frequencies, produced by PietschHouse and Warren Records, is a cross-genre, multidisciplinary event centering live music and local art. Since 2023, Warren Records has fought to protect endangered music and support those who create it. PietschHouse (pronounced “peach-house”) has been committed to elevating Austin creatives since 2021 through events where local musicians and visual artists can be seen, be paid, and build community. Together this collaborative showcase stands behind our shared values of fair pay, safe performing environments, and access to an enthusiastic audience.
