My paintings explore home, belonging, and the ways we create comfort through change. Growing up moving between places, I learned to rebuild my sense of home wherever I was. This experience informs Sad Girl Picnic, an ongoing series that began in 2020. Inspired by memories of resting beside my grandmother on a banig, a traditional Filipino woven mat, I use picnics and public parks to create imagined spaces where women can rest, take up space, and simply be.
