I forage, preserve and paint wood bark. I weld fluid, organic-shaped armatures and attach the bark. While the process is sculptural, making them feels like painting a 3D canvas—light shifts, shadows stretch, and perspective transforms the artwork as you move. These 3D pieces are an outgrowth of my abstract oil paintings. The two mediums frequently complement one another. My paintings invite viewers into vast, unseen connections: mycelium networks mimic the brain’s neural pathways, which reflect the structure of a solar system. We feel these connections; my artwork is an attempt to show it.
