As an oil painter, I explore contemporary expressions that blend East Asian tradition landscape with Western approaches to light and volume. Inspired by historical shanshui images, photographs, and the places themselves, I reimagine past landscapes for the present moment. My current work focuses on transforming flat 2-dimensional sources into 3-dimensional forms, using light and volume to explore the dualities between memory and presence, tradition and modernity.
