Norah Levine

Painting
Norah Levine is known for her dreamlike paintings that often marry her original photography with layers of pigmented wax. Informed by her background as a traditional portrait photographer, she creates richly textured works, fusing beeswax, tree resin, and pigmented wax with fire—a process known as encaustic. Her work often centers on animals and the natural world, exploring themes of wonder, presence, and quiet connection. It is frequently described as ethereal, carrying a sense of depth and tranquility.

What To expect

Discover how my paintings are created. I work in encaustic, building up hot pigmented wax layer by layer until the surface has real depth and history. During the Tour you’ll see my materials and process videos up close and can ask me anything about it. Fine art prints, original drawings, and smaller treasures will be available at a range of price points, whether you’re a first-time buyer or a longtime collector. I’m delighted to be sharing the space with Rebecca Bennett, whose bold, saturated oil paintings offer a striking contrast to my quiet, layered work.
