Painting
I trained as an architect before I trained as a painter, and I still build a canvas the way you build a structure — in layers, with weight, balance, and something load-bearing underneath. My work is texture-heavy and material-driven, built up through acrylic, sediment, and salvaged material until the surface carries as much as the image does. The ongoing Enviro/Mental series sits with reciprocity: what we do to the land, and what the land does back to us — floods, drought, the slower exchanges we don’t notice until they’ve already changed us.

What To expect

Expect to get close. My paintings are built in layers you can read from six inches away — grit, sediment, salvaged material — and photos flatten all of it, so this is the version worth seeing in person. You’ll see finished Enviro/Mental work next to pieces still in progress, along with the materials and tools behind them, and I’d rather talk you through how it got made than stand quietly beside it.
