Painting
I am a Mexican-American painter whose work explores identity, memory, and the experience of living between two cultures through the materials I paint with. I work on raw linen and jute using handmade oil paints, including pigments I harvest and grind by hand from nopal cacti in Guanajuato, Mexico. The material I use carries the geography, history, and personal narrative that the painting is built from. Every work is a physical record of a life lived across borders.

What To expect

I have always believed that the soul of an artwork resides in the integrity of its materials: the surface, the pigment, the tools in hand. These choices shape the work just as much as the gesture of paint itself. For that reason, I am constantly searching for materials that carry history within them. During the tour, I will be showcasing work that is defined by these principles, using materials like leonardesca and herringbone linen, jutes, and pigments sourced from around the world to enhance the idea of identity and the places have made us who we are.
