Painting
These works are a placement of oneself at a particular spot, at a certain time of day. I work quickly under changing conditions in gouache. It is not so much a replication of the scene, rather the mental gymnastics of finding proper relationship/scale, of light and shadow, of working internally to manifest the objective world. This is an action of the mind that enables one to form a concept, not just what is before you and its glory, but the entire universe.
