I’m Erica, I began my charcoal journey in 2025. I started out with oil painting, but turned to drawing to strengthen my proportions, and fell hard for charcoal instead. What pulls me towards drawing portraits is emotion. I want to capture someone in a feeling, a moment that resonates far beyond the page, one that makes a stranger pause and feel seen. This experience has carried me through some deep emotions myself, and shown me a creative potential I didn’t know I had. In charcoal, I’ve found a way to express myself, connect with others, and get lost in the process.
