My photographic practice explores perception of the world we inhabit. The landscape, which begins wherever we are and extends to surround us, is the result of interconnected geological, ecological, temporal, and human forces. I am interested in how people experience place and how perception is shaped by deeply ingrained assumptions formed through personal, cultural, and physical experience. Much of what we see is filtered through expectations that lead us to automatically label, categorize, and assign meaning to our surroundings.
